Nikon presents “Broken Night”

When it came to HDSLRs, Canon was in a category of one among moviemakers and cinematographers. Nikon wasn’t even part of the conversation. However, with the D800, Nikon finally had a camera that could level the playing field. But rather than launching an ad campaign to reach this small but influential audience, we created a short film shot entirely on the D800. To prove this camera can make anything beautiful, award-winning writer, Guillermo Arriaga and two-time Academy award winning cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, were asked to make a “beautiful horror movie.” The result was Broken Night which became an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival 2013 and won bronze at the One Show Awards.
